NEW DELHI: Honda Bike & Scooter India (HMSI) on Tuesday introduced an upgraded variation of its scooter Activa 125, priced at Rs 61,362 (ex-showroom Delhi).
The design now includes functions like Head Light On (AHO) and is certified with Bharat Stage-IV emission standards.
” Revitalizing the sector once again, Honda’s Activa 125 is now the very first automated scooter in India to satisfy both the AHO and BS-IV standards,” HMSI Elder Vice President – Sales and Marketing Yadvinder Singh Guleria stated in a declaration.
Honda’s flagship automatic scooter, Activa 3G continued to dominate the two-wheeler sales market for seven consecutive months, contributing as much as 38 per cent of the incremental sales of 1,62,703 units in the industry in July, Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India said.
Honda said that the Activa becomes the first automatic scooter to overtake motorcycle sales in 17 years.
“Honda Activa 3G has broken the 17-year monopoly of motorcycles in India to become top selling two-wheeler of India in 2016. In the last one year, Activa sales have increased by 2.27 lakh units compared to 19,910 units cumulative increase of the nearest competitor in the January to July period.
The gap between the top selling two-wheeler and the second bestselling two-wheeler is at all-time high of 58,413 units in July 2016, which is indicative of higher preference for Activa, a Honda official said.
The Activa has notched up sales to an all-time high in July 2016 since 2001 to stand at 256,173 units in the domestic market, Honda officials said.
